Review of Joe's Essay
Scary. It has a good amount of points, but these points need to have more of his perspective on the issue, because it seems that his essay is just relaying information to me. Sometimes there are some connections such to executions and football… they do not quite seem to fit logically together…
Review of Jonathon's Essay
Honestly, it is a great paper already! The only thing that I think that the paper needs is better transitions in between paragraphs. I was really impressed on how it subtly summarized and analyzed the Hitt essay.
Review of Taylor's Essay
Taylor’s essay is more of an outline, but it is easy to see that she has good points that are in the process of being expanded. It seems that she is going to put a lot of focus on the loss of formality of the wedding ceremony and how weddings are more of a celebration than a ceremony.
Review of Grant's Essay
Grant is in the process of writing a great paper. He just needs to put more of his perspectives on the issue of weddings in American culture. It is very smoothly written, but with more of his input will really give the essay momentum and some more drive for the reader to continue on.
Review of Kevin's Essay
Kevin is a great writer. He puts out quite a lot of interesting and imposing topics. Not only are his topics great, but they are also put together well. He is very clear when explaining his points, but sometimes too clear in such a way that to expand on a point, he tends to stray off the main topic. This doesn’t happen often, but it would be better if a paper stayed on topic all throughout....
Thesis and Work Cited
Our culture is shaped by the rituals that we participate in. When looking at the culture in America, there are many rituals that we participate in. Certain rituals might be more significant than others, but one particular ritual that is extremely significant and exceedingly common in America is the wedding. Over the centuries, millions of Americans have gotten married, and in so doing, have...

Part 2
Part II: For each of the nine sections in “New Family Forms Are Emerging” (Hite 272-276), write in YOUR OWN WORDS 3-5 sentences in which you get to the gist of that section and then relate it to an association you made from your own experience or observations. In other words, each section will consist of your summary and commentary.

Update: (4 of 4)
I continued weeding out what I don’t need.
Update: (3 of 4)
I have expanded on some parts of my outline. I have also weeded out some sources that seem to get in too deep on what divorce is in order to put more focus on my experiences.
Update: (2 of 4)
In this second half hour of class, I looked deeper into one of my sources, entitled The Divorce Dilemma by John MacArthur. I used some of its passages to reformat some of the events that I went through.
Update: (1 of 4)
I have decided that I will write the stress that I went through when my parents were going through rough times in their marriage. For the past half hour, I created a formal outline for my essay.

Thinking Critically About the Internet
This website provides us with a brief yet detailed tutorial on how to think critically about the information that we obtain from the internet. It teaches some tips that can help us become an “internet detective.” At the beginning of the tutorial, it introduces to us the fact that in college, it is expected of us to use the internet as a source for our works or to just a way to find information....
A Problem A Day
Since I have to wake up very early in the morning to catch my bus, I will write down the problem I will deal with in my organizer the night before, so that as soon as I wake up and look at my organizer, I already know what problem to deal with.
Reshape Your Character
The first intellecual trait I would like to strive for first is intellectual perseverance. I tend to run out of steam along the way, so I definitely need to be more persevering in my mind. I will do this by forcing myself to do things that I would normally procrastinate on.
Analyze Group Influences on Your Life
I always analyze the groups I hang out with. When I do analyze, I listen to what topics they enjoy talking about or what types of words they use and I also look for what they are interested in as a whole.
Get in Touch With Your Emotions
Next time I find something funny or hear a joke, I will evaluate exactly why I am laughing, because sometimes I find myself laughing after hearing a joke without understanding what the joke was all about.
Keep an Intellectual Journal
I already do this to some extent by actively using an organizer, but I do not note my situations and responses in great detail, so in order to apply this strategy in my life, I will give a detailed account on my various situations and the responses I made in such situations so that I can track what I have or have not accomplished.
Use Wasted Time
Since I take the bus and since it takes approximately 1 hour to get from Camarillo to Ventura College, I can use that time on the bus to read up and get ahead of the lectures before the actual lectures instead of catching up on a most beloved sleep. If you think about it, a lot of time can be wasted while riding the bus, because it is so easy to either sleep or just watch the traffic pass by.
My Story
My name is Justin Allen Simangan and I was born on February 18, 1992 in a Kaiser Permamente hospital in Bellflower, CA. I have always lived in Southern California, but my family and I have moved a couple of times throughout my 18 years of existence.
During my first seven years of my life, my family and I lived in a small condominium in Diamond Bar, which is situated in Orange County. I went to a...
My Type...
With so many interesting types of autobiographical writing, I had a hard time trying to make up my mind which type I would choose. I narrowed down my prospective choices, and then decided that I would choose write a “Historical Memoir.” The reason for my choice would be because of its straight-forward approach to facts and events that have occurred in the past.
Impressions on "First Person Plural"
This documentary was both saddening and shocking at the same time. At the beginning, it seemed a bit confusing with the way Deann introduces herself three times, but with different names and different birthdates. As the paper goes on, however, it becomes more and more clear how and why she has gained so many identities. The way she ended the paper was very effective in giving a...

The Talk for My Life
When I was around 11 years old, I was incredibly troublesome. During that time, I gave my parents quite a lot of heartache through my continuous disobedience, lying, and rebellion. Even though I had been brought up as a Christian by my parents, I was not at all acting like one. I did whatever I wanted to do, even though it would negatively affect the lives of the people around me. I practically...
Antonio's Essay
1) The thesis statement basically states that he is neutral to the issue of technology either being good or bad.
2) Opens with a question. That is a good way to invite the reader.
3) It is organized by first discussing how people use technology in society, then moves to how people can abuse technology to their unjust advantage.
4) It kind of ties in to the title.
5) Good thought pattern. There...
Essay 1 Summary
My essay basically discusses the issue that people today are so saturated with technology and the media that it is negatively affecting the way we think and reason. Sadly, we are so influenced by what technology brings us and what is shown in the media that we sometimes allow them to rule over our opinions, the way we live, and the way we interact with the people around us. It also dives in to how...

Evaluating the Internet
The two websites that I use the most are Foxnews.com and CNN.com. The reason why I use both of these websites is so that I can form my own opinions from the information and observations presented by both the political Right and Left.
Reading What You See
One point that the critical thinking section made was not to read what you want to read, but to read what is written without adding your own biases and views on it. There are two kinds of ways how the memory works. The first is that your visual memory works holistically - it remembers the whole picture all together. Your verbal memory works sequentially - in a logical, chronological manner. Visual...
